Ottawa Board of Trade Launches Workforce Confidence Initiative
Ottawa, ON – Mar. 22, 2022 – The Ottawa Board of Trade (OBOT) is excited to announce the Workforce Confidence Initiative in partnership with Ottawa Tourism.
The Workforce Confidence Initiative is a comprehensive strategy to restore employee confidence in the hardest hit sectors in the National Capital Region, such as the hospitality and tourism industry, as well as the business districts that support them. Amid labour shortages, this initiative is a tool for businesses to ensure employees have the materials and information needed to feel safe, supported, and confident to return to work.
Employers have easy access through the OBOT website to tools and resources like the POST Promise, Rapid Testing and complimentary virtual workshops hosted by experienced facilitators on building employee confidence.
OBOT has been working closely with local business and community leaders as well as stakeholders at every level of government to ensure businesses have the policies and programs necessary to survive and thrive.
Andrea Greenhous from Vision2Voice will be presenting two informative workshops for employers and employees that will offer tools and resources focused on building confidence, dealing with difficult customers, and addressing mental health wellbeing. Additional workshops will be announced in the coming weeks.
“The Ottawa community has one of the highest big city vaccination rates in the country as well as an impressive level of health protocol compliance among business. The lifting of capacity restrictions and the Ontario plan for reopening are positive indicators that we are on the road to recovery” said Sueling Ching, President and CEO at Ottawa Board of Trade.
Michael Crockatt, President and CEO of Ottawa Tourism believes this initiative will be advantageous for the tourism industry. He shares “the Workforce Confidence Initiative is a valuable tool to help rebuild employee confidence and mitigate the uncertainty that has been instilled in our workforce throughout the pandemic. Employee confidence must be restored to ensure the successful resumption of business in the hardest hit sectors and will help build a stronger economic rebound.”
