Labour Stability on Canada’s West Coast

The Ottawa Board of Trade, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and stakeholders across the country are advocating for labour stability on Canada's West Coast in order to minimize the impacts that labour stoppages could have on the supply chain.

On June 13th, we co-signed a letter with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and over 120 associations, chambers of commerce and boards of trade requesting the government’s active engagement with this bargaining process and that it be prepared to act to prevent a labour disruption. It is imperative that the federal government work with the parties to secure an affordable, stable, and efficient supply chain. On July 5th, we joined the national business community who employ millions of Canadians to send a letter to the Right Honourable Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, expressing our deep concern regarding the labour dispute at Canada’s West Coast ports and calling on the government to reconvene Parliament and pass back-to-work legislation immediately. Letter: Canadian Business Community Expresses Deep Concern Regarding The Labour Dispute at Canada’s West Ports

If your business is currently experiencing impacts from the labour disruption, please let us know by sending an email to Stéphanie Montreuil so we can continue to build the case for a swift resolution to this labour conflict and avoid damage to our economy.
