Four Major Economic Partners Unite to Invite the World to Ottawa, Featuring a First-Ever, Five-in-One “Power-Hive” of Interconnected Websites

For Immediate Release: December 14, 2021 – Today at the Ottawa Economic Outlook, the Ottawa Ambassador Initiative was launched to synergize the efforts of the Ottawa Board of Trade, the City of Ottawa, Invest Ottawa and Ottawa Tourism in mobilizing proud citizens from local businesses and the broader community to be “Ottawa Ambassadors.”

The initiative makes it easy for Ottawa Ambassadors to register, engage with others online, and promote Ottawa as the best place to “live & learn, work & invest, visit & play” to help rebuild our city after COVID-19.

Ottawa Ambassadors who register will receive social media toolkits and updates monthly, with immediate access to promote and share the newly launched Come to Ottawa Portal.  The entire purpose of this program is to encourage local residents to invite their friends, colleagues and loved ones to Come to Ottawa and discover—or rediscover—everything that our G7 Capital offers to citizens and visitors alike.

What is completely unique about this portal concept is that it features an at-a-glance menu of links—one click away from more information, videos and statistics found on the official websites of the four major economic partners (plus a few others). The bilingual portal was designed to function like a go-to, five-in-one “power-hive” of fully optimized, accessible interconnected websites: https://www.cometoottawa.ca/. It is a modular concept that will continue to evolve and expand as more Ottawa Ambassadors and major partners join the cause.

Members of the early adopter community of Ottawa Ambassadors include Mayor Jim Watson (City of Ottawa), Mark Monahan (RBC Bluesfest), Lise Bourgeois (La Cité), Michelle Groulx (Ottawa Coalition of Business Improvement Areas – OCOBIA), Carole Anne Piccinin (Ottawa Festival Network), Jamie Kwong (Ottawa Industry Music Coalition), and Stefanie Siska (C’est Bon Cooking).

Ottawa Board of Trade (OBoT) President and CEO Sueling Ching says, “Spurred by the pandemic crisis, four major economic partners came together to cross-promote Ottawa as a global iconic city to existing and future residents, students, career professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, and visitors. We know that our very best Ottawa Ambassadors are the people who live in this community and love everything Ottawa has to offer. What better way to assist with rebound and recovery efforts than to unite Ottawa Ambassadors on an online portal that by design, makes it easy for them to tell others and share what they love best about Ottawa with the rest of Canada and the world.”

The Ottawa Ambassadors are featured in a video inviting members of the Ottawa community to be Ottawa Ambassadors. About a dozen other Ottawa Ambassadors have registered and will be releasing videos via their social platforms in the days and weeks to come. They include Peter Tilley (The Ottawa Mission), Ron Smith (Keynote Search), Ross Meredith (The Westin Ottawa), Gillian Oxley-Harper (Burovision), Suzanne Cyr (Cyrious Connections), Linda McCallum (Royal LePage), Jeff Snyder (Capital Office Interiors), Rob Campbell (TCC Canada), Sarah Chown (Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant) and Renji Cherian (FASTSIGNS).
